About Nicholas
Nick is a native of Spokane, born at Sacred Heart Hospital in October of 1986. He grew up on the South Hill and attended Hamblen Elementary School, Chase Middle School, and Ferris High School. After graduating from high school, Nick went to Washington State University. He graduated from WSU Magna Cum Laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, obtaining two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in mathematical physics and the other in theoretical mathematics.
After his time at WSU, Nick volunteered with AmeriCorps. After two years in AmeriCorps and missing the mountains of Washington, Nick returned to attend law school at University of Washington School of Law in Seattle.
After graduating from law school, Nick began his legal career as a law clerk for the Washington Court of Appeals, Division III, working for the Honorable Kevin Korsmo. After his clerkship, he served as a public defender and in private practice at Winston & Cashatt, before joining the Washington Attorney General’s Office (AGO). At the AGO, Nick began as a line attorney and was promoted first to team leader and then section chief. He is currently the Section Chief of the Litigation Support Section of the Torts Division of the AGO, overseeing several teams of attorneys and professional staff. Separate and apart from his work at AGO, Nick has worked as a Pro Tem Judge and Commissioner for various courts in Spokane County.
While Nick has lived in Seattle, Chicago, Alaska, and Germany, he always knew he wanted to return to Spokane. Spokane is home. Nick is married to his beautiful and brilliant wife Claire. They have two adorable daughters, Ember and Ellie, and one ten-year-old chocolate lab named Cana that still thinks she's a puppy. Nick also has three sisters, one older and two younger, as well as several step brothers and sisters. When not working, he enjoys hiking, skiing, golfing and spending time with family at Priest Lake.
